Poetry with an Explanation:The Path of the LSAT is...

I digress, you know I don't write like this.
It's therapy in the making. The person replaced with the screen,
the lips supplanted by the fingers,
expression exchanged for ideas,
the couch without the love-seat.

But here is the abnormal, please don't hold it against me.

The mind needs time to acclimate, to wake
6 am becomes the time to awake
Never mind what to do you need to prepare your self
To replicate the environment that you will be subjected to

No coffee, before 12!
Why not?
Because you’ll require it to be alert,
and if you drink you will crash in middle of the test

Sit for 2 hours and 55 minutes with no interruption
So that when test day arrives you wont be sedate

My head is expanding my forehead is imploding
You think that choice is correct?
But look the answer key rejects.

I sit there in a room a man barks 5 min, I jump
Three questions left, that’s sufficient time
But the pressure of the clock is hard to define

No alcohol or pot
No mechanical pencils or watches.

Instead,
Salmon, tuna, avocado, and almonds
0mega-3s’ and 6s’ working out with intensity
a simple analogue clock and yellow pencils

I wake in a sweat, the short fat proctor is replaced with my dark silhouette.
No it is not test day but its coming soon, and my dreams are replete with the coming day of truth.
What more can I do, for four years work and 4.03 to boot. But that wont do.
Nooooo, instead a 4 hour test that will help them choose. One man said to the other “the law school looks at three factors, the first, second and third number of your LSAT score”. Ouch!

So I swayed and prayed, practiced Tai Chi and meditated.

I Studied with alacrity and imagined the feeling of Yale calling

No matter what this time I did what I needed to be done,

and far as the result that will remain to be seen.

But the path of the LSAT is...well... frankly obscene.

Poetry With an Explanation: "Indoctrinated Youth"

I know what your thinking

but its not exactly what you predicted

Rush hour in Brooklyn

A cacophony of smells and noise

Now your pocket concerns you,

not your face.

We all move with great speed

A mixed heard of sheep, cattle, and some predators too

Our destinations vary our purpose is the same

Lo the R train is it coming will I have to wait?

Again!

Then.

The fluid solids waves of man, women, and

and whats this...

A Child?

He may have been 12 but he was lurching, sidestepping, and nudging all with the deftness of a seasoned commuter. I moving watched as he almost ran over a pleasantly plump woman and then dove elbows first into the train. Society's impact on a 12 year old, he, like many of our youth, has been indoctrinated.

He knows he must run but does he know why?

Is he the same when he visits small town Connecticut?

Does he realize that one acts like a Roman only when in Rome?

Is THIS what we have succeeded in imparting?

Indoctrinated youth, tell me what else have you learned?

Poetry With An Explanation: "Ever Been on a Blind Date on Steroids?"

Have you ever been on a blind date?

How about a shidduch date?

Which do you prefer?

The former, is set up by friends or,

has its genesis in a wink on one “date” site or the other.

They tell me,

as I have never experienced an ordinary blind date,

that you should have no expectations.

Mature means mother.

Pretty means nice.

Nice means…

After all can you trust,

a person to be honest about themselves

or a friend to be aware of their misguided motivations?

Is the latter any different than the former?

How so?

Perhaps it is the source.

A relative who has vetted the person for you

Done the research and decided

“I have a good feeling about this one.”

I am powerless, a man

used to the ways of nature

is now subjected to another’s subjective

Interpretation of the self, by the other.

Where do you meet a spouse or a long term intimate friend? Some go to the club and are satisfied for the moment. Others go to the library and are too timid to approach or are “ignored” for a book. Our friends, especially the ones who just got into a serious-relationship/married fell like they are now experts and found the perfect one for you. Don’t get me wrong most of my friends met their spouses through friends. My best friends met his wife at a party in my apartment. But for those not governed, or not wishing, to be governed by providence…

For the religious person there is an ostensibly unique approach. Here an individual, you, makes an active decision to allow someone else to actively search for your mate. A complete loss of pro-active power, no initiative required. Some in an effort to regain power reject, out of a state of confusion, or even immaturity. Others jump on every opportunity, after all my relative would never set me up with what they perceive to be what I want.

Don’t get me wrong I am not projecting resentment.

Just curious observations

It IS interesting.

So does the blind date differ from the shidduch date?

Is it not a matter of managing expectations?

If that’s the case the difference is not the type of date

but rather the reason why you agree to go on the date.

In the blind date your expectations are “blind”.

In the shidduch date your expectations are on steroids.

Justly so?

I don’t think so.

Semantics at play,

no difference,

just the label?

Ok.

So maybe we should just call it, I don’t know…

a blind date on steroids?

Poetry with an Explanation: "The Introvert in an Extrovert's World"

The Beer is cold and my mind is clear.

There he sits in his chair.

Facing the brick wall, reading a book, or

listening to the extrovert's converse?

To be recognized as a thinker, or

to be seen -to be around others.

Otherwise why read, sit at home?

Dear sir, are you indulging in who you are, or

are you wishing to be otherwise?

Are you independent or dependent?

Do you face the wall because you thrive in singularity

or do you face the wall to attract -

desperate loneliness?

In our culture the introvert, the thinker, the reader is so misunderstood, and the observer is confounded. Here we worship independence, leadership, and exceptionalism. All terms that imply separation, singularity, introversion. If an American sees one fish swimming separate from a school of fish, they see a leader leading. The Easterner, sees a fish lost -separated from the consensus.

Yet we love to socialize to be connected, face-book, twitter, and sex. For the introvert there is confusion and doubt. I was brought-up to prize independence, but when I spend most of my free time alone I am different, strange, even anti-social!

Do you face the wall in a crowded bar

because you are in a state of flux -

contradiction, paradox, enigma?

What am I, what are you?

A thinker, a reader, independent,

face the wall.

Friendly, passionate, social,

In a crowded bar.

An introvert in an extrovert's world.

Poetry with an explanation: "I don't see"

I wonder. I imagine. But I don’t see

Technology and the divine

Oil and the uninspired

Hate, love, commitment, and guns

Why does the obvious occur

How do you define obvious

The last of the undeveloped?

Surrounds the developed?

The body surrounds the soul?

No, we have ignored the obvious

We are blinded by the oil

By the mobile phone and cures for cancer

But did we not dig to discover oil,

Did we not innovate to discover technology?

Why can we not see the obvious,

We have done it before?

Are you looking for motivation?

LISTEN.
Iran is alienating everyone. For the first time in 60 years some Arabs and Jews see the common ground. But only after being exposed to an even greater tyranny. This is not a new. The Soviets and Europe found common ground only after being exposed to an even greater totalitarianism.
History repeats itself. We are exposed to two great tyrannies. A collapsing economy and nuclear Iran.

Instead of recognizing the obvious.

The Middles east is highly underdeveloped it is a perfect place to poor inflated capital -to invest. Here are untapped human resources and markets. You ask how we can help the undeveloped develop, I answer Israel. In 60 years they turned sand into a soon to be continental power. They have the know-how, the technology, the will, we recognize the motivation.
Imagine if Israel became the engine of growth in the Middle-East. An emerging Middle-East, could offer the ENTIRE WORLD, not just the Chinas and 3rd world not just the Europe’s and 1st worlds BOTH. Because BOTH are represented. The world needs a shot of economic success. The Middle needs a shot of vision.
Meanwhile a backwards Iran would have two choices submit to the will of the people, the united region, and world or experience the decay of recognized but unrealized potential.

For those that know that, don’t worry the pain becomes dull. Or perhaps you become dull.

I do not see because I am blind?

I do not see because they are blind!

But today the blind "see"

And the one that sees is called "blind".
